Jojo Gubalane
In an age of digital speed and artificial intelligence, we must not lose sight of our values as Filipinos. This work honors the heartfelt tradition of the serenade and the respectful grace of mano po—treasures that connect our past to our future. They remind us that true strength lies in the bonds that unite us as a people.

Jojo Gubalane began his professional career designing fashion accessories, home furnishings, furniture, and mural artworks. He later worked on high-end furniture, producing renderings inspired by European Masters with Maitland Smith Philippines, Gold Coast, and Wicker and Vine. This experience greatly shaped his artistic growth, instilling discipline and craftsmanship. He now serves as President of the Cebuano Arts Club.
In 1990, Gubalane joined the Cebu Arts Association, marking the start of a fruitful and rewarding career. His early works were primarily acrylic and oil on canvas, but he soon explored modern art, experimenting with new mediums and themes such as surrealism. Fascinated by contemporary art, he believes the artist’s role is to create something unique—an expression of what others cannot see but the artist can reveal.
Over the past 27 years, Gubalane’s passion has evolved into higher dimensions. His works embody a strong sense of values and personal interpretation, aspiring always to create art with depth, meaning, and content. Today, his creations are part of collections worldwide, and he continues to produce large-scale 3D murals and monumental sculptures for integrated township developments such as Mactan Newtown, as well as expansive commercial and public spaces.
