Our Story
The Cebuano Arts Club (CAC) is an art organization based in Cebu City, Philippines, dedicated to promoting local art and artists. Founded on August 6, 2018 at Terrazas de Flores in Malubog, Busay, Cebu, CAC has grown into a vibrant community for artists and art enthusiasts. It was established by Yuri Barrameda, Mamerto “Jojo” Gubalane, and the late Allan Dimayacyac.
In December 2022, CAC announced the reopening of Terrazas de Flores Botanical Garden in Barangay Malubog, Cebu City, officially designating it as the home of the Cebuano Arts Club. Additionally, in March 2024, the club conducted art workshops at ARTres by Camia Cafe Gallery Workspace in Labangon, Cebu City, further demonstrating its dedication to nurturing artistic skills within the community.
Over the years, CAC has organized various events and exhibitions to showcase the talents of Cebuano artists. In August 2024, the club celebrated its 6th anniversary with a successful exhibition at SM Seaside, welcoming new members and reaffirming its commitment to Cebu’s thriving art scene.
Beyond these milestones, CAC has actively engaged with the wider community through numerous cultural and artistic initiatives. These include the Dasig 2 Exhibit at Il Corso Filinvest Malls held during Sinulog 2025, the Intersections Panel Discussion in collaboration with Queen City Toastmasters Club, the Mango and Lechon Festival Exhibits at Mactan Newtown, and a partnership with Cebu Jaycees (JCI) in the official launching of BASLAYON—a free directory for Cebuano creatives. The club has also hosted the Shared Horizon exhibits at Bintana Café featuring young CAC artists, participated in the Tubo Art Fair, and conducted regular art therapy outreach programs at the DSWD Home for Girls.
Cebuano Arts Club continues to reach new milestones. In January 2026, CAC established its international presence in Singapore through a partnership with Ocean Pixel. The club launched its official website at the Ravehnal Youth Club, showcased artworks, and conducted a watercolor workshop to inspire young and aspiring artists. Through this exchange, CAC received invitations to exhibit at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and to participate in the Poetry Festival Singapore in July this year.
At the homefront, CAC mounts monthly exhibits—the most recent being the auspicious Chinese New Year Exhibit at Banilad Town Center. The club is also preparing more partnerships with establishments across Cebu, bringing art into hospitality spaces where visitors from around the world can experience Cebuano creativity.
Another landmark initiative is the soft launch of the Tambayayong Coffeetable Book, a collaboration with the University of San Carlos Publishing House and Ocean Pixel. This innovative project brings together CAC visual artists and authors from STEM backgrounds, creating a unique fusion of art and science that highlights Cebuano creativity in new and interdisciplinary ways.
CAC was also part of the exhibit during the inauguration of Expo Mactan Newtown, where the world‑class talent of its president, Sir Jojo Gubalane, was prominently showcased. As the centerpiece of the Expo launch, his large‑scale 3D mural symbolized Cebu’s artistic excellence on a national stage—a testament to the scale, commitment, and artistry that the club contributes to Cebu’s cultural landscape.
Looking ahead, part of CAC’s plans for 2026 is to expand its reach by joining international exhibits, beginning with opportunities across Southeast Asia, as the club continues to champion Cebuano creativity on a broader stage. Through these partnerships and initiatives, the Cebuano Arts Club continues to serve as a bridge—for community, culture, and compassion.
